About

Thermal drying technology can be classified into two types in terms of drying temperature – low temperature drying (under 150℃) and high temperature drying (over 150℃). It can be also classified into direct (convection) and indirect (conduction) thermal drying in terms of heat transfer types.

Design and Selection of Drying Temperature

We adopt direct low temperature drying. Direct low temperature drying applies heat directly on sludge, which makes it a high thermal efficient method. meanwhile, low temperature protects some volatile or organic content in the sludge from volatilization or carbonization; the circulating hot air takes away water only from the sludge. Drying temperature is designed as 40-50℃ (temperature of the return to dehumidification heat pump), while blowing-in temperature as 60-80℃ (bottom of container).

Drying Modes and Methods

Closed cabinet dehumidification drying – Dehumidification heat pump sludge dryer takes dehumidification heat pump to dry the sludge, which includes three basic procedures i.e. blowing hot-air and evaporating moisture, cooling wet air and condensing moisture, heating dry air. Dehumidification heat pump drying – Dehumidification heat pump is equipment that utilizes refrigeration system to cool and dehumidify hot & wet air, meanwhile recycles the latent heat released by condensing vapor to heat the air, which is used to blow away moisture in the sludge. Container drying – Container type dryer provides a convenient way for bulky wet sludge drying. Wet sludge is dumped into the container after dewatering, the container is then put into the dryer which has a door for access.

Cooling Method

To prevent the air temperature inside the dryer cabinet from continuously increasing due to waste heat released by compressors and fans, the dryer needs to dissipates extra waste heat to outside via heat sink. Cooling tower or forced-air cooling fan is adopted as heat sink device for heat dissipation and cooling. Cooling methods are variable according to different dryer models.

Odor Control

Drying holds in fully-closed cabinet with low temperature, no exhaust gas or odor is released to the surroundings, thus expensive and complicated odor control devices are avoided.

Dried Sludge Storage

The dried sludge is 50℃ below. It can be packed directly without further cooling down.
